ACLS
STAT: ACLS Self-Testing and Training
The ACLS STAT is a collection of self-assessment
and learning tools for healthcare professionals who require Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) skills. This includes airway management,
electrical therapy, pharmacotherapeutics, cardiac rhythm interpretation,
and the management of several acute cardiac events as specified in
the ACLS algorithms.
In North America alone, approximately 150,000 participants
engage in one of three possible ACLS courses:
-ACLS Provider 2 day course
-ACLS Re-certification
-ACLS for the Experienced Provider
The ACLS STAT is designed to provide practical learning
tools for the ACLS participant to prepare for each of the 3 ACLS courses.
The commercial version of ACLS STAT serves as a
testing tool for the ACLS courses and reinforces the retention
of content offered at ACLS courses (through review exercises and simulations).
The ACLS STAT has also proven useful for the hiring of critical care
personnel, for cardiac arrest orientations in house and for cardiac arrest
management courses.
While the ACLS STAT demo application available online consists of a
testing tool, the ACLS STAT completed application will feature:
-Practice and formal ACLS tests with a database
of 600 questions
-Comprehensive tests as well as tests specific to each ACLS component
-Scored and printable results
-Ability to review one’s tests
-Compare own results from previous test attempts
-Managing Cardiac Emergencies Text
-ACLS Skill Learning Modules
-ACLS Simulator (Learn and Game modes)
The ACLS STAT is ultimately striving to be officially
recognized as
an e-learning alternative to the full classroom-based ACLS course. Participants
complete a selection of modules in lieu of time spent in the ACLS program.
Classroom time could be decreased by 50-75%, replaced by e-learning experiences
completed at one’s own pace and according to one’s own schedule.
