Cardiac Trivia Game (3 levels)

In keeping with our mission to deliver learning experiences that are engaging, fast and effective, the Cardiac Trivia Game was born to challenge health professionals' knowledge of well known and occasionally obscure cardiac facts.

The concept of a game of cardiac trivia came about from consistent feedback from adult learners who found standard quizzes stressful, with the anxiety surrounding tests taking away from their learning experience and overall success. Self-tests wrapped in a game format is reportedly more engaging and less stressful.

The three level game directs the user to correctly identify answers in a shortest time frame to score points. Questions are randomly generated. Points are awarded for correct answers and withdrawn for incorrect answers. Bonus points are awarded when correct answers are chosen within a certain timeframe.

Similar to many electronic games, subsequent levels are accessed only upon successful completion of the current level. A score of 60% is required to advance to the next level. If a score of 60% is not achieved, another attempt is provided of the current level. If a score of 60% is still not achieved, the player must start the game again. Questions become more difficult with each higher level.

Upon the conclusion of the game, a player is provided feedback on their degree of success. A certificate of completion can be printed.

The Cardiac Trivia Game has been well-received by over 200,000 health professionals. Upcoming versions include an expanded repository of questions, more specific feedback and explanations for answers. The content is taken from several cardiac texts including The Six Second ECG and Managing Cardiac Emergencies.
