Contiguous leads in a 12-Lead ECGThe 12-lead ECG provides 12 views of the heart. The 12 views are generated through only 10 electrodes. Four limb electrodes attach to the inner forearms and calves. The remaining 6 electrodes, labelled successively from V1 to V6, are attached... refer to a group of leads that are sequentially connected on the body surface, with a common view of a region of the heart. For example, leads II, III and aVF are contiguous in that they all view the inferior aspect of the heart. Similarly, V3, V4, V5 are contiguous, in that they are located beside each other, viewing a contiguous area that stretches from the anterior region directly into the lateral region. But changes to leads V2 and V5 are not contiguous due to the break in the regional view of V3 and V4.
