Ventricular Standstill

Ventricular standstill identifies a rhythm with P waves but without QRS complexes. Blood flow ceases. A third degree AV block can precede ventricular standstill, with the ventricular pacing failing. Ventricular standstill may respond to transcutaneous or temporary pacing and rate enhancing medications such as an epinephrine infusion. CPR will be required as these possible interventions are attempted i.e. treat issue, save brain.
